The Olympia Downtown Alliance Board of Directors recently endorsed a new downtown development, Market Flats. Market Flats is a mixed-use new construction project located at 312 Capitol Way North and is a contemporary brick building 5-stories high with 44 residential units on the upper four floors.

Caps and gowns are a sure sign that summer’s around the corner. It’s not unusual for the whole family to get together and celebrate dads and grads. Don’t stress out about feeding them, downtown Olympia’s got you covered!

Whether you crave fine dining or something casual, hit up these great spots. But with party season rapidly approaching, if your group is over 6 people, it’s a good idea to make reservations in advance to lock-in the day and time that works best.

The year was 1984. The United States held the first Olympic marathon for women, and the trial was hosted right here in Olympia on May 12, 1984. Joan Benoit Samuelson was the winner of the race and went on to win a gold medal in the marathon in the Olympics that year. To commemorate the 35th Anniversary of this historic event, she will be here in Olympia on May 18 -19 at the 38th running of the Capitol City Marathon and participating in several of the weekend’s events.
