The Downtown Alliance supports a clean, safe and welcoming environment to ensure business success and a thriving Downtown.
The Alliance is taking on the following initiatives to accomplish this goal:
- Help City to facilitate Community Development Block Grant investments in physical improvements that help prevent crime and engender a perception of enhanced safety
- Locate and paint distressed properties through the Volunteers in Paint program
- Research “clean and safe” best practices employed in other downtowns across the nation and work to strategically implement new programs
Request for Proposals: 2018 Downtown Safety Program - Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
In the spring of 2017, the Downtown Alliance applied for Community Development Block Grant funding for measures to help prevent crime and assist with a positive perception of safety Downtown. The City of Olympia graciously allocated $75,000 to funding this effort.
In partnership with the City of Olympia, the Downtown Alliance is proud to announce the issuance of a Request for Proposal for projects that work to achieve crime prevention and improved positive perception of Downtown safety. Funding will be made available for projects such enhanced lighting, cameras, and alcove gates.
